Theatre as a Social Inclusion Mechanism

Coeditare: UNATC Press & Universitaria Craiova

Translated from Romanian by Cosmin Băduleţeanu, Diana Ştefan-Dinescu, Mihaela Zamfirescu

„This book advocates for the use of theatre education as a tool in shaping individuals who are prepared for a diverse society—people oriented toward finding solutions rather than culprits, and capable of living in harmony and balance with their peers. It is addressed both to students enrolled in the Master’s program in Theatre Pedagogy at UNATC «I.L. Caragiale» and to those in the Master’s program in Alternative Pedagogies and Theatre Art in Education (PED-ArtE) at the University of Bucharest, whose training covers topics discussed throughout this volume.

At the same time, the book is aimed at professionals in theatre, psychology, and pedagogy who wish to apply theatrical methods for educational purposes. It may also be of interest to educators, primary and secondary school teachers, and other professionals involved in the education of young people in public or private schools, as it offers an overview of how theatre can be used as a working method to foster an inclusive environment. Finally, the book may be consulted by anyone interested in understanding how theatre functions as a mechanism for facilitating social inclusion—which, put simply, means accepting and valuing diversity.“
