Migration, a global phenomenon of increasing intensity, places refugee groups, especially children and adolescents, before severe challenges of socio-cultural integration, exacerbated by trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder, and obstacles in accessing education. This work, based on the author’s expertise in theatrical pedagogy and applied theatre, explores the consolidated role of applied theatre as an essential instrument for social intervention and an experiential learning method.
The book moves beyond classic theoretical approaches, focusing on the applicability of active theatre methods—such as playback theatre and the theatre of the oppressed—in developing effective inclusion strategies. The structure of the book, rooted in the author’s doctoral research, follows two major axes: firstly, the theoretical foundation of applied theatre as a form of cultural activism and a therapeutic tool; secondly, the comparative analysis of multidisciplinary integration models, ranging from the psychology of cultural shock to cognitive and behavioral adaptation. The work demonstrates that theatrical art not only facilitates the assimilation of language and socio-cultural norms but serves as a powerful mechanism for healing, social cohesion, and individual transformation for vulnerable populations.
